The Sixteenth Century Journal:

The Journal of Early Modern Studies

In publication since 1969, The Sixteenth Century Journal (SCJ) publishes twenty to twenty-five articles and hundreds of book reviews a year. As its subtitle, The Journal of Early Modern Studies, indicates, SCJ is an interdisciplinary journal, providing readers with thought-provoking research and inquiry related to the sixteenth century broadly defined (1450-1750) in all fields. Our articles cover subjects from around the world and appeal to a wide range of readers.

SCJ appears four times a year in digital and print format, plus occasional special issues. The digital version is available at The University of Chicago Press as well through JSTOR and Historical Abstracts Full Text. Members of the Sixteenth Century Society automatically have access to the entire backlog of SCJ issues. If you do not have institutional access to the rest of JSTOR, you may join at a 50% discount via your membership in the society. The print version is printed on acid free paper and its pages have also been carefully designed with the rebinding process in mind; a generous gutter provides ample inside margins even after rebinding.

SCJ is indexed and abstracted in over a dozen bibliographical reference sources, including American History and Life, Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA), Web of Science, Historical Abstracts, MLA International, Religion Index One, and more.
