Click here to read about passport and visa requirements for entry into Canada. Citizens and lawful permanent residents of the United States do not require a visa but must have a valid passport. Non-U.S. citizens/permanent residents, who may require a visa, are urged to begin the application process early, as it can take several months, depending on your country of residence. You may contact director@sixteenthcentury.org for a formal letter of invitation, which you will need for the visa application.
Getting Around Toronto
A promotional code is also available for local transportation, on both the UP Express (light rail between Toronto Pearson Airport and downtown Toronto) and GO Transit (trains in and around Toronto, including a line to Niagara Falls). The code for both the UP Express and GO Transit is SCS24 and will remain active through Nov. 3.
UP Express provides direct service between the airport and downtown approximately every fifteen minutes (first train around 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and 6:30 a.m. on weekends, last train around 1 a.m.) Travel time is approximately twenty-five minutes. UP Express is usually significantly faster than a taxi or rideshare. UP Express is easily reachable in Toronto Pearson Airport from Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The closest stop to the Sheraton Centre is Union Station. To get from Union Station to the Sheraton Centre, you can walk (10-15 minutes), take a taxi or rideshare, or take the subway/métro line 1 toward Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and exit at Osgoode Station, which is right next to the hotel.
The conference discount for UP Express is 25% off. Tickets for UP Express can be purchased in advance and may be activated up to a year from date of purchase. Tickets can be booked by visiting UP Express. They may also be purchased on-site. The conference discount for GO Transit is 15%. GO tickets are only valid for seven days from the time of purchase. Tickets can be purchased by visiting GO Transit and can also be purchased on-site.
